Student Mob Burns Down Durban University

November 5th, 2009

Just a follow up of yesterdays Student Mob at the University of Zululand, unfortunately for yesterdays blog I was unable to find any pictures of what had happened with regards the students going on a mad rampage through the Durban based University. This morning I was lucky enough to receive a nice email from Grant with a couple of images of what the Zululand Uni looks like now.

Click here to read my blog from yesterdays University happenings, to say the least I wasn’t too impressed!

IOL has the full story:

A student mob burned and trashed parts of the University of Zululand yesterday, resulting in tens of millions of rands in damage.

Security on the campus has been beefed up after the rampage, with more police officers deployed there.

Tensions at the university have been running high since the hotly contested October 5 elections in which the IFP-aligned SA Democratic Students Movement (Sadesmo) was penalised for failing to meet the deadline to submit a list of candidates.

The ANC-aligned SA Students Congress (Sasco) scored a landslide victory.

The mayhem, which started on Tuesday afternoon, continued into the early hours yesterday, leaving a trail of destruction.

Students Burn Down University Lecture Hall

November 4th, 2009

Students of Durban burn down University lecture hall.

WTF is wrong with University students these days?? From racial videos being released to burning down University campuses.
Students from the University of Zululand have gone on a so called rampage last night, students allegedly burnt a lecture hall and destroyed a number of other buildings in Durban.

These are supposed to be “almost educated” students I am reading about! But yet they are behaving like monkeys, what is happening to the youth these days. Im not trying to be funny or anything to that effect, but what the fuck do they expect to come from this situation? Maybe missing a few lectures or something..

Now my next question is, who do you think will be paying to repair the lecture hall and the other buildings that were defaced?

Times Live had this to say:

According to student leaders at the university, a lecture hall was completely destroyed and the student representative offices, the library and computer labs were also damaged when students allegedly stoned them.

“The lecture hall was burnt down and several buildings including the library, computer labs, and dining halls were damaged. “Police had to fire rubber bullets to disperse students,” said African National Congress Youth League branch chairman, Thabani Mthabela.

Wow this makes my bloody boil, nobody is ever fucking grateful for what they have!
This would never happen overseas, how can a country move forward when we still have rediculous things like this happening!

Come on people wake the fuck up!

Nokia Introduces New Laptop – Nokia Booklet 3G mini

November 1st, 2009

Slimline Nokia Booklet 3G mini

Hey! Its only one more month left until December, which is of course, my favourite month out of the year because all of the manufacturers release their cool gadgets for the Christmas holidays and for the year to come.  While listening to 5Fm the other afternoon, one of the female presenters mentioned something about Nokia launching a new laptop. I was on the net in a flash and “Googling” it straight away and found the very new, Nokia Booklet 3G mini laptop.

Looks hot right? Ok calm down and let’s get down to the juicy bits. The new Nokia Booklet 3G laptop will be running a Windows operating system (probably windows 7), supported by an capable Intel Atom processor that promises the performance of a fully functional PC. It’s battery is more than capable of normal daily use, but don’t expect it to slam down hours of online gaming as it is still only a laptop.

The name Mini laptop lives very much up to its expectations with only a 10” screen. Yet, on the upside it is HD and has an HDMI port for HD video out. You could compare the Nokia Booklet 3G mini to a super model, extremely hot, a super slim body and features in all the right places! How’s this, the internals live within it’s smart alluminium shell, which is a slender 2cm thin!

Everybody wants the fastest computer these days. So what has Nokia done to help with this situation? Well, connection speeds are crucial with a product of this nature, so the Nokia Booklet has been designed with fast downloading and uploading. It’s 3G/HSPA ready for rapid mobile broadband definitely is up to the task. Wi-Fi has also been wedged into the picture. Nokia has definitely lived up to expectations. They have even added onboard assisted GPS with Ovi Maps while neatly sitting in the passenger seat. There’s a single front facing camera nicely placed above the 10inch HD screen for when you need to have those all important video chats.

I’m so glad Christmas is just around the corner, but my cell phone can still pretty much do the same! So do I really need this laptop? I’m not too sure if I’d be buying one, but if anybody would like to donate one to me I’d be more than grateful
